What I'm working on
Updated August 17,1997

For the one who is seeking adventure in Athas, find here some mysteries that are still waiting to be solved...

Note: For some of the mysteries, I spoke to Lord Donnelly, not to have direct answers but to know wether solving them is possible or not. Ariol'ofTheWISP and Boro also contributed in finding some more interesting materials...

Rifts and more.

Rifts can be found in Clockwork Isle and some other places (Brother and some other NPCs mention that the whole land has a teleportation system). For some reasons, I have decided to give names to the Rifts...

Garulfo's map of Clockwork rifts Garulfo's map of the rift location in 3 sands
Garulfo's map of the rift location in Faria's Passages

As you probably understood, rifts names are related to what statues upstairs Clockwork 1 say (see related page). I also found out the following:

If you enter a rift in Clockwork, you will land in the following places:

Out of Clockwork, things seem to be different. I had XPs going into rifts, once in Faria's Passages, once in Three Sands (see right maps), and I landed in Clockwork. The mighty Abacrombie said he found a Rift in Defiled Desert, South of Altaruk entrance, but I couldn't find it myself.

Don't fear to EMail me if you know some more Rift location... If you find a Rift, note exact location AND time, I will REWARD you (money, magic item) for the info!

Ikaa, the elven fortune teller.

When you talk to Ikaa, she foresees you future and mention three different names, such as "The Scorpion", "The Caravan", "The Lizard", or such places that correspond to Clockwork statues... But also, you can have something different, like "The Kank", "The two of claws", "The Lion".
What is this "two of claws"? And is there something to do with that?

Secret spots in Clockwork.

There are two places, one in clockwork 2 near stairs, and one in Clockwork 3 behind a stone (is there one on isle 1 too?), which lead (if you have a grappling hook) to a "secret spot in Clockwork isle". But they actually lead nowhere... Also, maybe I'm missing some important stuff in Clockwork as game crashes everytime I go to far NE corner of isle 1.
Note: Lord Donnelly says "When you take these passages, you will find the amulets rooms quicker". Well, I haven't noticed any difference. Maybe I need more work on it...

Kalak, Dragon-King of Tyr.

According to Brother, the beggar in Caravan Way (Brother is a very interesting guy actually), Kalak is not dead but is hiding somewhere under Tyr. Of course, I never found out where... If you want to know more about Kalak, talk to the town crier after he did his anouncement.
Note: Lord Donnelly says "Kalak is not coded in the game. It's just a red herring".

A secret passage in Altaruk.

Brother (him again) mentions the existence of a secret passage that thieves can use at night in Altaruk... I haven't found that one, even when playing a thief! Also, there is no way that I could talk of "something important" with Spoon in Altaruk. Are the two things related, as Spoon is supposed to be a retired thief?
I have also found two spots where you are "robbed". It happens very seldom... Does it show entrances of the thieves' passages?

Your purse is now lighter!
Spot#1 Spot#2

Sneak in the Elven Caravan.

Brother, still, mentions the possibility to sneak in the Elven Caravan when they are leaving, and rob plenty of treasure... I heard that some players did it, but I never succeeded myself.

The Captain's necklace.

If you are not kind with Jogodin in Altaruk and isult him, you can obtain some pardon from Aristuff if you find his lost necklace. But when you return this item, you are granted with... Nothing! So, is there something more to do with this necklace?
Note: Lord Donnelly says "If you insult or harrass any of the townsfolk, especially Jogodin, all the merchants in town severely increase their prices, but only for you, as you have been earmarked as a troublemaker. When you solve the Arisphistaneles quest, you are then pardoned by the shopkeepers, and the prices return to normal".

Play with Masquin.

Is there something to win out of pointy hats when playing with Masquin in Altaruk? Once I tried and won 10 times in a row, but got nothing new...

Trees in the Defiled desert.

Is there something to do with the trees or the other stuff that lies in Defiled Desert? Out of blue rings, of course!

The Underdark orb.

You can pick a orb in Underdark, but it works only there so far. Also, when you have destroyed the elder brain, Kezriss the Mind Flayer mentions that you will maybe meet him again... Somewhere else?

Astral Plane.

To the latest news, Astral quest appears to be broken. Too bad, I was hoping for the Psurlons to invade Athas, that would have been cool!

Artifacts in the school of thoughts.

Thanks to Ariol'ofTheWISP for reminding me... There are some plants and alchemy artifacts that you can "view" in the School of Thoughts. Can something be done with that?
Note: Lord Donnelly says "Data identification error. Ignore it. For that matter, if you don't ignore all the buggy material and work around it as much as possible, it will drive you batty. Just some good advice."

Under Draxxan isle?

There is surely something more to do with the Draxxans than bash them... Maybe if you are a good spy for us they will propose something cool? All the more than you can "View" a sort of fireplace near where Delsin stands.
Note: Lord Donnelly says "Again, more data identification errors. The data set in OBJEX.GFF probably has the wrong name attached. Nothing to smoke about."

A strange shelf in The VA headquarters.

In NE corner of the VA headquarters, you can "view" a shelf... But what to do with it? Of course I tried all the keys that I have ever found in game, including the three you can find in Faria's chests and the two that you can gain with mission from Dariya and others.
Note: It's probably the same problem as mentionned before...

A strange chest in the forebiding temple.

There is a chest in the forebiding temple that appear to have a triangular lock... But where is the triangular key to put in?

The pentagram of the hidden forest temple.

I saw a pentagram on the ground of the hidden forest temple the very first time I got there, but I couldn't find how to make it work. Anyway, I haven't seen it since then!
Note: Lord Donnelly says "Event Staff occasionally drop such objects on the ground to conduct quests. This was one such instance".

Dig in the house of Shom.

Yes, you can dig in the house of Shom... But it's very risky as the old Sinak will see you and call the guards...
Note: Lord Donnelly says "You can dig with a shovel in House Shom. You will most likely be arrested. There is nothing hidden in there otherwise..."

Miscellaneous.

Good luck!
