This is a very fast way to gain XPs and CPs, and (normally) a very safe way too...
If you are a member of the Veiled Alliance (maybe it works for the Templars too), some VA members (Kalka, Chesia, Tarill, Dariya, etc.) will propose you to search for some "lost items". To trigger to job, select the first sentence in the dialog box, then you will be requested for a special mission (it's not a delivery work). You must recover a ledger, a key, a scroll or some stuff alike. The location can be in various places, such as the Great Spyre or the Elven Caravan... Or in a tavern.
Here's the tip: Talk to Dariya, trigger a mission, and if it's not in a tavern, refuse to do the job, then ask again (normally at low level it's always in a tavern, you don't have to go out of the City walls). When you have the job, go to the "Screaming Cellar", and wander around the SW corner (just walk back and forth, no need to "view"). Soon you will "find" the missing item, whatever it is. Go back to Dariya's, get your reward and take another mission. When you are bored, go to the fields to kill some thieves, so you will see that you risk your life to win 100 XPs and 50 Cps. When your killing instinct is under control, just come back to Dariya's. :-)
As for DSO 1.6, you will gain:
You can reach level 6 or 7 at the speed of light by this mean, and have lots of cash to maybe buy a couple of +2 axes in the Elven Caravan...
Note that the items are ALWAYS at the same place. In the Screaming Cellar, it's the SW corner, and, if ever you need fast cash at higher levels, you will have to go to the Weeping Widow (you aren't allowed to enter the Screaming Cellar anymore when you have about 250.000 XPs). In the Weeping Widow the items are between two tables, SW of the central huge pot...
Despite the warnings of Dariya, I've never been attacked in taverns while searching items. You sometimes see some strange people, with defensive spells on, like Grom, Asima and such, but they never attacked me (for now). Actually the only characters that might attack you in taverns are... Other players!
In taverns, items are ALWAYS in the same place and aren't visible, but in other areas they are visible and location may vary. In the fields they are often in NW corner, quite concealed behind a tree...
