I'd like to find a good, DDR3-capable mobo and would like to get an idea of which ones would do well, so I don't buy shitty parts a second time. If I can get a good mobo recommendation, I should be able to get the good computer up and running within a week of ordering my parts. I just want a good mobo to start on.

    Er...what CPU sir?

I'm taking it from the ground up. My CPU will match the mobo I buy

I'd recommend i5-3570k (or non K if you don't care to overclock) and for mobo I bought a Gigabyte Z77X -UD3H that I've had zero issues with. Really in my experience anything Gigabyte is worry free and great value.

There can be an argument made for i5 vs i7 for gaming, but most gaming/hardware websites will concede that unless you can take sufficient advantage of Hyper threading outside of gaming, i5 is all you need.
