After you play this game, try the previous two: Oblivion (2006ish) and Morrowind (2001ish). Both have amazing story and gameplay, but ofcourse the graphics are older.

In comparison, I read that Skyrim is ~20sq km smaller than Oblivion which is something like ~15sq km smaller than Morrowind. This is just the overall world, not including indoors. Oblivion has an alternate world which is pretty big. Skyrim, imo, feels much smaller than Oblivion, the map makes things look further apart than they really are. However the dungeons in Skyrim feel better and more dynamic than those in Oblivion (and Morrowind). The only problem with playing Skyrim first is you will HATE the skill system in Oblivion and Morrowind, Skyrim's new system is 1000% times better than what those games had.

Also Oblivion has an expansion pack and a few dlc adding 60+ hours to the game (150+ hours to do main/side quests); Morrowind has 2 expansions that are pretty cool (one lets you turn into a Werewolf) and the levitate (fly) spell makes traversing the land fun, but there is no fast travel in Morrowind :(

I think for normal difficulty, uber items are overkill, but master difficulty, level 40+ they are somewhat desired for tough battles like Elder Dragons.

There are at least the Stilt Walkers that will let you travel between cities instantaneously.

Why not just go all the way back and start at the beginning with Arena, then go to Daggerfall, Morrowind, and then Oblivion? You can then see how the series has progressed.

    Because those games are stupid?

Because they are great games that, minus the flashy graphics, laid the ground work for Skyrim.

More of them are better. Also, these are sandbox games. Bethesda allows you to be uber as part of every single one.

Whether or not you're uber, you can access every single bit of content either way. It just depends on whether you want to be challenged, or whether you want to pretty much be the second coming of Jesus.

So I have been so busy the last 2 weeks I haven't even touched Skyrim :(

Last thing I remember was getting the elderscroll and fighting Aluden*(big dragon) I haven't had the time to play and now that I do I can't seem to motivate myself to pick it back up :(

Does it get any better? I haven't really been all that enthralled by it so far. Seems like I get side tracked and wind up playing for a few hours and not making any real progress.

That's how Elder Scroll games are. Story is bullshit, and if it wasn't for being able to God Mode yourself through game mechanics, it would suck.

The absolute most fun thing to do is to go on a rampage, and see how long it takes you to take the Skyrim non-guard population to 1. If you take an arrow to the knee in the process, it can be dropped to 0.

RIP Skyrim. Everyone is playing another game, a month after your release.
