[IMG] Coming soon -- not in time for this weekend's pre-alpha test, but soon -- is the first version of Crowfall's faction system. At some point in Pre-Alpha 4.0, players will be able to pick and fight for a faction, officially joining a team until the end of a campaign's run. While a date for the start of faction play hasn't [...] This article was published by the word-wranglers at Massively Overpowered. Please review our terms of use for feeds. Continue reading...
It appears that Amazon not only picked up John Smedley, but also most of the team from Pixelmage Games, the studio that recently folded after funding of Hero's Song didn't pan out. In a new blog, Smedley posted a photo of the team members that are working on what is called "an ambitious new project" and many of the faces are familiar ones from Pixelmage days. [IMG] Blizzard Watch ran an editorial yesterday quoting former marine biologist and World of Warcraft Lead Systems Designer Greg "Ghostcrawler" Street on the subject of video game boycotts: "I would not advocate boycotting a game as a way to make a statement, especially if deep down you still love the game. You’re just not likely to drive change as a result." [...] This article was published by the word-wranglers at Massively Overpowered. Please review our terms of use for feeds. Continue reading...

[IMG] If there is one thing Massively OP's MJ has wanted in The Secret World, it's roller skates. Well, that and a penguin onesie. And thanks to the new challenge, she's finally got a real chance at getting one of them! MJ is heading in to complete challenges in order to earn a pair of gravity skates. [IMG] Ages ago on the MMORPG subreddit, a player made a bold statement: MMORPGs are designed for low-skill gamers. "I remember being dazzled by EverQuest and Ultima as a child," he wrote, reminiscing about his memory of high difficulty old-school games. "I recently loaded up [Star Wars: The Old Republic] again, and I'm shocked. Piss easy. Everything. XP falling from the [...] This article was published by the word-wranglers at Massively Overpowered. [IMG] Whatever else you might think about Dofus, you have to admit that the game is resistant to pigeonholing. The game's most recent update rolls out its 18th class, the Ouginak, and if you're left wondering what the heck it's supposed to be, that's sort of the point. The answer is that it's sort of a barbarian warrior with canine features... [...] This article was published by the word-wranglers at Massively Overpowered. Please review our terms of use for feeds. [IMG] Emily "Domino" Taylor, long-time EverQuest franchise crafting wizard at SOE and now Daybreak, announced that she's leaving the studio at the end of the month -- just a week after Landmark sunsets, in fact. Sad to announce I'm leaving Daybreak at the end of February. It’s been a pleasure & an honour supporting the #EQ2 & #Landmark communities. — Emily [...] This article was published by the word-wranglers at Massively Overpowered. [IMG] One of RuneScape's better and more popular experiments is celebrating its fourth birthday today. Old School RuneScape, the 2007-era version of the game that started up four years ago to cater to those looking for a more classic experience, has arguably become as popular if not more so than the standard RuneScape client. To mark this occasion, Jagex is throwing [...] This article was published by the word-wranglers at Massively Overpowered. Please review our terms of use for feeds. Continue reading...
